4 Types of Questions to Ask During Your Interview

In addition to researching the company that you’ll be interviewing with, you should also come prepared with several questions to ask the person(s) interviewing you. Your questions show that you’re serious about working with the company and show your interest. Your questions can also provide a personal insight into the company’s work culture.

Questions about Day-to-Day Work

  • What is the most important thing I could do to help within the first 30 days of employment?

  • Describe a typical day?

  • What are two or three most important goals for your team as we enter the 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarter of the year?

  • What does success look like in this position, and how do you measure it?

Questions about Clients and Customers

  • Who uses this company’s services/products?

  • Where do clients and customers use these services/products – is the company’s business local, national, or international?

Questions about Competitors

  • What other organizations offer similar services/products in this area?

  • How do the companies compare to your prospective employer?

Questions about Recent News

  • Check to see if the company has made any recent press releases.

  • Check to see if the company has been in the news lately.

  • Find one thing they recently did and then ask them in the interview, “I read you recently did ___, can you tell me more about that?”

Don’t forget to wrap up your interview with these two important questions:

  • What is the next step of this process, and when can I expect to hear from you?

  • Is there any other information I can provide you with?
