Lenovo Donates $35,000 to Dress for Success Triangle
Company continues its longstanding partnership to empower Triangle women

RALEIGH, NC, October 19, 2020 – Lenovo has donated $35,000 to Dress for Success Triangle. The donation will help support the agency’s job acquisition program, the Going Places Network, and outreach efforts to target high-unemployment communities.

Lenovo’s support enables funding for Dress for Success Triangle’s Going Places Network, a four-week online program focused on providing women with the skills needed to gain employment. The program supports women with the tools to market themselves using various resumes and cover letters, an elevator pitch, and by using LinkedIn.

Participants in the Going Places Network practice their interview skills through online mock interviews with top Triangle businesses, including Lenovo. Women graduate with a certificate from Wake Tech Community College or Durham Tech Community College. In 2019, 74% of women who graduated the program found a job within 90 days.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dress for Success Triangle’s programs have been shifted online. Many of the nonprofit’s programs now feature topics related to the pandemic including how to prepare for a video interview, how to find remote work, and more.

Lenovo’s donation also funds the agency’s outreach efforts to reach high-unemployment communities, which include female veterans or the spouses of veterans, those living in multi-generational poverty neighborhoods, and those struggling to re-enter the workforce after disruptions in their careers.

“Lenovo works to provide smarter technology for all, meaning across all ages, genders, nationalities, abilities, and ethnicities.  We recognize that too few women consider a career in technology,” said Libby Richards, North America community engagement manager at Lenovo. “Through our partnerships with Dress of Success Triangle, we hope to empower and inspire women and attract more women to our sector.”

Lenovo has been a long-standing partner of Dress for Success Triangle. In addition to providing financial support, the company also volunteers its employees in the agency’s client programs and hosts clothing drives to benefit the women it serves. As a part of its Global Month of Service in October, Lenovo will provide volunteers for virtual mock interviews and professional development webinars for Dress for Success Triangle participants.
