RALEIGH (Aug. 1, 2017) – Dress for Success© Triangle NC today announced that Laura Martin has been named executive director, succeeding Beth Briggs, who served the organization for three and a half years and announced her retirement earlier this year.
    “We are thrilled to welcome someone of Laura Martin’s caliber to the helm at this important juncture in our history,” Joan Nelson, chairwoman of the Board of Directors, said. “We have experienced rapid growth and expansion as measured by clients served, the breadth and depth of services we offer and the sheer scale of our operations. Laura is an expert at building operational sustainability and leading diverse teams toward an ambitious vision with limited resources. She is the right leader at the right time.”
Martin joins Dress for Success from its referral partner, StepUp Ministry where she served as Director of Programs, and previously Director of Development during her eight-year tenure.

I look forward to building on the strong foundation established by the amazing women who preceded me, Founder Pat Nathan and former director Beth Briggs. I join a team that is equally committed to this mission and has demonstrated the know-how and work ethic to achieve and sustain the growth we’ve been fortunate to experience in recent years. I am very excited to be part of taking Dress for Success Triangle NC to the next level and in the process changing futures for women in our community.”

Triangle Among Top Affiliates Worldwide

Martin takes the helm at Dress for Success at a time when the affiliate has become one of the top five performers in a worldwide Dress for Success network that boasts nearly 140 affiliates. 
Since its founding in 2008 the Triangle affiliate has served more than 12,000 area women; 25 percent of whom came through the doors in just the past 18 months. While the nonprofit’s mission began with providing appropriate attire to women seeking employment, today it delivers a broad range of job-placement and career services that help women not only get that first job, but progress on the path to a sustainable career and future for themselves and their children in many cases. 
Dress for Success Triangle is almost entirely locally funded, and maintains a rigorously low cost to serve of under $500 a client, yet achieves impressive outcomes across its service base. Over half the women who receive basic services find work; that number increases to 75 percent among clients who complete the 10-week job-training program.
“Balancing our growth with impactful programs and continually improved outcomes created the need for a leader with strong operational capabilities, equally strong vision and the leadership skills to scale an organization,” Nelson said. “Laura was the standout choice among an incredible slate of candidates.
